A Lifetime of Service. A Commitment to Every Child.For more than two decades, Jason Samuels has dedicated his career to serving children, families, and the Hampton community. A proud Hampton public servant, Jason began his career with the City of Hampton Department of Human Services, where he served families in a variety of roles, including Social Services and Child Protective Services. Today, he continues that work as a Program Manager for Hampton’s School Age Programs, helping create safe, supportive, and enriching opportunities for children beyond the classroom. That commitment to children led Jason to the Hampton City School Board, where he was first elected in 2014. For more than a decade, he has brought his experience as a social worker, program leader, parent, and community advocate to the decisions that shape the educational experiences of Hampton's children. Jason believes that public education is about more than test scores and budgets. It is about making sure every child has access to a quality education, every teacher has the support they need to succeed, and every family can trust that their schools are preparing their children for the future. His service has extended far beyond the School Board. Jason has been involved with local civic, neighborhood, youth, senior, and community organizations throughout Hampton, reflecting his belief that strong schools are built through strong communities. As he seeks his 4th term on the Hampton City School Board, Jason remains focused on a simple principle: Every Child Matters. He is committed to building on Hampton's progress while continuing to push for transparency, strong educational opportunities, support for educators, modern learning environments, and pathways that prepare students for college, careers, and life. Jason holds a bachelor's degree in Social Work from Norfolk State University and a Leadership Certificate from the Academy for Nonprofit Excellence at Tidewater Community College. He and his wife, Dr. Keisha Samuels, are proud parents of two children. For Jason, this campaign is not simply about another term in office.
